CETAC Introduces Freedom of Choice and Improves the QuickTrace™ Software
March 01, 2008

CETAC Technologies is proud to give our customers the freedom to choose an autosampler for their Mercury system that will meet their laboratories sample load requirements. The choice of autosampler is available for the QuickTrace™ M-6100, QuickTrace™ M-7500 and the QuickTrace™ M-8000. One of the autosampler choices includes no autosampler, which means you move the probe. If manual sampling is not the desired way in which you want your personnel to spend their time the ASX-130, ASX-260, ASX-520 and the granddaddy of them all the EXR-8 is available to increase the laboratory productivity.

The ASX-130 has the capacity of up to 90 samples and nine dedicated standard positions. The ASX-260 has the capacity of up to 180 samples. The ASX-520 has the capacity of up to 360 samples. The EXR-8 has the capacity of up to 720 samples. The ASX-260, ASX-520 and the EXR-8 all allow the use of up to 10 dedicated calibration standard positions. One major benefit of this new arrangement is that you can purchase a CETAC Technologies Mercury Analyzer at an entry-level price and operate the analyzer in manual mode and at your convenience add an autosampler of your choice to complete the system. This will be fully realized if retiring an old AA system with an instrument detection limit of about 0.2ppb with a CETAC QuickTrace™ M-6100 with reported method detection limits of less than 0.01ppb.

CETAC Technologies is also proud to introduce new features to reduce the analytical costs for the QuickTrace™ M-8000 CVAF Mercury Analyzer. CETAC Technologies is set to release new control Firmware and QuickTrace™ Software Version 1.6.1 for the QuickTrace™ M-8000 CVAF Mercury Analyzer. Customers asked, and we responded with a reagent saving mode of operation for the QuickTrace™ M-8000 CVAF Mercury Analyzer.

During the gold trap heat mode, which liberates and transports metallic mercury for detection, the QuickTrace™ M-8000 CVAF Mercury Analyzer will automatically initiate the reagent saving sequence. The reagent saving sequence will slow the on-board sample peristaltic pump, which will reduce the SnCl2 consumption by as much as 80 percent. The reagent saving sequence will also raise the autosampler sample probe and stop the autosampler rinse pump. This feature will reduce the rinse consumption by 10mL per minute if utilizing the rinse to waste configuration. The autosampler rinse saving measures will reduce the overall rinse consumption by 40 to 60mL per sample.

At a predetermined time, the QuickTrace™ M-8000 CVAF Mercury Analyzer will wake from the reagent saving sequence for system stabilization prior to analyzing the next sample. After installation of the new QuickTrace™ Software and control Firmware, your CETAC QuickTrace™ M-8000 CVAF System will be more cost effective to operate. System costs will be greatly reduced while maintaining existing sample throughput. Another added feature in this software release is the addition of user defined blank acceptance criteria. This will allow the laboratory to reduce the stress involved in passing the blank criteria for either EPA 1631 or 245.7. The feature will allow the laboratory to set the limit based on the NPDES regional limits.
